Wolka Waterworks

The city of Maitland is situated in the Lower Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia, near two national highways, a 2-hour drive to Sydney and 30 minutes to the Hunter Valley Vineyards, Newcastle and Port Stephens. Consists of largely rural surroundings with an approximate 60.000 inhabitants.

During my stay here I went off to the Wolka Waterworks, which formerly was the source for maitland's water supply. now its a nice museum and home to heaps of cuddle kangaroos who roam around in the early mornings and late nights when the heat is not unbearable. here ive captures a shot of one eastern grey who nearly escaped from view. the other pic is of the actual waterworks building where coal is used to power the plant which brought H2O to the city.

Mungo Brush

Old MacMungo had a farm ee i ee i oo. With a Mungo here and a Mungo there, here a brush, there a brush everywhere a Mungo-Brush.

One of the hidden jewels of New South Wales, Mango Brush is a good place to up for a short hike, camping, boating, fishing, picnicking, swimming, or taking a tough 4WD up for a ride on the beach itself.

I meself went up to Mungo Brush. had to go through some thick bushland where along the train I saw a giant hopper ant (stings if it bites) and a trail along the sand that belonged to a snake! I then had a picnic along the shore where I saw a young bloke unsuccessfully learning how to ski loser haha ;)

The water smelled pretty funky at times (might've george bush nearby) but that didnt even stop me from having a good time and a picnic of some of the best ham, bread, and lemonade that australia has to offer.

after filling my belly with human petrol i went off to a hole in the wall. not literally though, it was a gorgeous beach that could take your breath away if you held your breath long enough ;) it was a bit cold and cloudy when I went, but I would definitely go if your looking for a cozy place to relax along the coast with a good view of nile island, just 3 km offshort, while your there.

Nelson Bay

If there was a busy tourist site during my holiday, it would have to be Nelson Bay. Plenty of people here with many doing heaps of activities along the coast. Here they offer tours to go dolphin and whale watching. there was also many fun shops that had lots of things to buy such as cool clothes and heaps of cute souvenirs. Live music was also there to keep me entertained while also giving anyone a chance to shake their booty if they wanted.

A bit from the shore, there was a fun looking boat that had heaps of people jumping off it. It also had a waterslide, but most people couldnt be bothered and jumped off freestyle.

One Mile Beach Holiday Park

On holidays, most aussies have a way of finding a beach. and who wouldnt with a hot sun floating above. Traveling along the coast of New South Wales, I found myself at another gorgeous oceanfront called One Mile Holiday Park. There was plenty of ocean goers when I went with many trying to escape the early summer heat.

It was an amazing site to see when first seeing the beach after following a short path leading from the FREE parking lot. Lifeguards were on duty there, while at most other beaches as well. Here in Australia I saw that they use flags to discern where one could swim, surfboard, or neither. I liked their system of keeping people safe while enjoying the shoreline. Also the lifeguards dont get paid here, they do it voluntarily. they should get paid wages or something nice for their all their hard work.
